The project supported on-line Web-based co-operative working by providing groupware tools to any kind of R&D, academic and commercial project team.
A WWW based software package ("BSCW, current version 4.0") and a comprehensive Web platform to develop and support collaborative workspace for document editing, annotation, production and group communication, has been commercially available since 1998 from OrbiTeam Software Gmbh (http://www.orbiteam.de) with a client base of over 200,000 users. It is available for licensing or for renting but is freely available to schools and universities for educational purposes.
