Objective
The aim of this project was to develop an instrument that could be used on drilling sites to analyse oil and gas shows present in the cuttings.
Tests on this instrument at several drilling sites in the Paris and the Aquitaine basins have shown that its design was sound and that it was capable of distinguishing between the hydrocarbons normally present in the rocks, and the accumulation hydrocarbons. Obtained continuously during drilling operation, this data provides information on the movements of the hydrocarbons in the strata crossed. By comparing them with other drilling, one is then in a position to distinguish within a given sedimentary basin the zone most conducive to the accumulation on hydrocarbons.
The following were the objectives of the project:
- to construct a fully-automatic appliance capable of detecting and quantitatively measuring the free HC contents (oil, gas) and those of the hydrocarbons obtained by thermal cracking of the residual organic matter (kerogene),
- to adjust the method of analyzing the results.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
