Objective
To develop oil drilling rigs equipment which helps the operator to take decisions during drilling operations by informing him in a reliable manner and in real time about the tendancies of the present or of past situations. This is achieved by means of theoretical computations and forecasted statistical reports to guarantee a reliable display and recording of all the parameters necessary to enable the rational exploitation of the rig.
Stage 1 : Development of new programs
Drilling parameter computations and their digital and analogical displays have been completed. Round tripping detection is possible automatically and the stock control of drill pipes is operational. Regarding casing, the casing phase parameters and stock control of the casing can be monitored. Definition of the cementing programme is achieved. Drilling cost software has been implemented. Additional software (hydraulics, alarms, tables edition; editions (print-out) have been included.
Blow out controle module has been completed offering quick help by computing the necessary parameters for the monitoring of hydraulic pressure changes.
Acquisition :
Up to 40 sensors and transduccers can be accepted by the standard acquisition unit.
All signals are filtered and checked for validity.
Calculation :
Over 100 derived parameters are continuously calculated from the input signals every 250 ms.
Display :
Real-time anmimated displays, tables and charts ofthe drilling parameters are shown on large colour CRT specially housed for industrial and classed zones. Displays and printout are simply selected form function keys.
Stage 2 : Programs for exploitation for statistical analysis of the results on previous wells of the same field is operational. Directional well path analysis software is completed.
Data storage :
A record of up to 20 days drilling activities for 30 channels can be stored on the 67 Mbyte tape cartridge. Results of the last 24 hours operations are immediately available for consultation on the CRT and for printing out the daily report.
Print out :
Any display on request and well logs plotted against time or depth on the graph plotter.
The project will start from the "VISUFORA" system, developed by SYMINEX to acquire and graphically display drilling and deviation parameters and to record them.
This system will be developed along 2 directions :
- improvement and extension of existing programmes using only information from the well being drilled.
- exploitation of the records obtained from the wells previously drilled on the field.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
