PRODUCTION OF LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS AND METHANOL

Objective

In view of the growing importance of offshore oil and gas it was decided to develop a supporting structure (platform) which would be capable to carry a heavy weight gas processing plant, i.E. A facility for natural gas liquefaction or methanol production respectively.
In order to obtain a more advanced state, the developers submitted a -second phase- and the work was carried out under project no. 03058-78.
In 1976 there was little knowledge concerning platforms for deckloads of more than 2,500 tons. Thus the main task of the project was to develop supporting structures for plant weights of up to 15,000 tons. Since the product, lng or methanol, had to be intermediately stored offshore, a storage platform also had to be developed. In the course of the study a further problem came up, namely the transfer of the low temperature liquide lng (-162d.C.) from the platform of the tanker. Norwegian companies took part in the activities as subcontractors.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
