Objective
The objective of the project was to develop automatic techniques for working on subsea production stations.
Generally speaking, all the experiments were successfully concluded and yielded satisfactory results. In particular, acidification of wells by snubbing has enabled the production of the station to be enhanced.
The "diverless" techniques involving maintenance of subsea wells were tested.
The programme covered the following four main subjects :
Automatic installation and retrieval of guide lines.
----------------------------------------------------
After connecting an initial guide line with a heave-compensated laying tool, a second tool enables four guide lines to installed simultaneously. They are disconnected by means of an independent device.
Working in the wells by snubbing.
---------------------------------
This operation was performed with the riser under tension, slides on the riser to compensate for the heave, ball joints at the foot and head of the riser and a fixed snubbing unit on the workover large. Using this system, it proved possible to acidify a well.
Working outside subsea wells.
-----------------------------
The main objective was to actuate valves on the wellheads and manifolds by means of an independent handling module hooked on to an observation submarine.
Workingoutside the wells by a rabot.
-------------------------------------
A remote-manipulation robot travelling on rails laid along grondin north east station comprising two remote-manipulator arms and one telescopic crane was aimed at making hydraulic, electrical and oil interconnections between the various modules of the station.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
