OIL-WATER SEPARATION BY WAY OF A HIGH SPEED CENTRIFUGAL PROCESS

Objective

The project aimed at manufacturing a high-speed centrifuge for separation of water-oil mixture. This equipment will be of reduced size and wright compared with other systems of the same output. The oil content of discharged water will be 10 ppm.
Low flow rate tests have confirmed the figures predicted for oil-water separation. First tests of the industrial prototype have been satisfactory. The bowl reached its rated speed without any trouble.
Progress testing is to be started.
The centrifuge comprises a bowl mounted on an axial shaft bearing a disk stack. A wiper screw conveyor, fastened to the shaft, with a low differential speed with respect to the bowl, trains the solid particles towards a sludge space which is periodically discharged through a hydraulically driven valve. As both speed and flow rate reach high figures, an energy conservation system allows the consumed power to be limited.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
