Objective To research the technical and economic feasibility of post -installation of a pipeline riser on an existing offshore gravity structure. The original objective of developing a system of special clamps connected directly to the gravity structure has proved to be unsuitable for riser sections below sea level. The study has also shown that the hitherto design approach for predicting hydrodynamic loads on risers attached to large gravity is appropriate. Revised design criteria are recommended, based on random wave theory, together with velocity enhancement due to wave diffraction.Study the possibility of fixing a pipeline riser to an existing concrete gravity structure.Analyse the strengh of the riser and associated connection system in relation to functional and environmental loads.Study and compare costs of installing risers by means of a self -supporting tower structure which may be of the articulated type .Undertake detail design and installation of an 8" riser to an existing concrete gravity structure.
