CONCRETE ARTICULATED TOWER OIL PRODUCTION PLATFORM

Objective

To develop a multi-column articulated production platform for application in the north sea in deep water, utilizing the proved components of the test conat.
A 4-column platform for application in the North Sea in 380 m water depth has been developed.
The hydromechanical investigations, the results of which have been verified by tank tests, resulted in an excellent motion behaviour under operational conditions. Since the platform will be constructed vertically, special attention has to be paid to the tow -out procedure. Besides ball joints with hydrostatical bearings, ball joints with statical bearings have been developed.
The integrated deck with its dimensions of 110 x 90 m is supported by four ball joints on four columns which are connected with a gravity foundation by means of ball joints provided with an additional cardan joint in the interior. Norwegian companies took part in the activities as subcontractors.
