HYDROCARBON RECOVERY SYSTEM FOR SMALL OFFSHORE FIELDS

Objetivo

To develop a range of floating production systems which can be utilized in the cost-effective exploitation of oil and gas from offshore fields within continental shelf water dephs which are considered to be of marginal economic viability.
The outcome of the project has been the development of three reference schemes to conceptual design level, based upon typical North Sea field prospects. Most emphasis has been placed upon a manifold and control column which operates as a field step out. The other systems use the principle of the column with a semisubmersible (for a gas condensate field) and a tanker (for a low gor oil field).
The programme examines the role of articulating buoyant columns as manifold and riser support, and as mooring systems for floating production based upon the use of semisubmersibles and tankers. Effort is concentrated on the development and validation of coupled software to describe response in North Sea conditions, the upgrading of systems for more severe environments and cost-effective fabrication and installation techniques.
