Objective
To identify an offshore temporary mooring and loading system for very deep water applications, and also a permanent system. To solve design, construction, installation problems of the identified concepts and to give reliable engineering solutions.
The two concepts and design procedures have been precertificated by det norske veritas. As a result of the project, an adequate answer to the development of new concepts-technologies for oil field exploitation in deep water locations has been given. The technical feasibility of the temporary mooring loading system as well as of the articulated joke for permanent mooring have been confirmed by model tests.
After the identification of the temporary and permanent mooring and loading systems, basic concepts and their preliminary feasibility assessement, the most promising ones were selected and developed for a significant application in 1,000 m water depth. The temporary system is composed of a compliant structure, fixed on the sea bottom, which supports a rotating superstructure comprising all the necessary equipment such as loading boom, helideck and mooring-loading facilities. For the permanent mooring, an articulated joke system has been conceived, so as to establish a flexible connection between the storage vessel bow and the mooring tower: it is based on the use of a counterweight to develop the vessel mooring restoring force and to stabilize the system. Norwegian companies took part in the activities as subcontractors.
