USE OF HYDRAULICALLY DRIVEN SUBSEA PUMPS FOR ARTIFICIAL LIFT AND REMOTE FIELD PRODUCTION

Objective

To appraise the detailed engineering and economic aspects of alternative downhole and subsea pumping systems both proven and novel, including an assessment of proven systems based on operator experience in the North Sea where natural drive is weak or absent.

The study envisaged the study of the historical record of the problems experienced in the artificial lift pumping systems as applied to North Sea reservoirs. A review of the philosophies adopted by the various alternatives and the resulting consequences which affect the downhole completion details, topside power supply and interface connections with satellite wells. Sufficient detailed engineering to be carried out to give a firm basis for costing a complete integrated system to allow a cost/benefit analysis to be made.
