Objective
To develop computer based simulation methods to analyse various field development options in order to produce optimum subsea production systems.
Initial Results from the program give excellent agreement with alternative method of calculation. The failure, repair and availability models have all been tested with in-house data and provide sensible results which have been verified as far as possible against hand calculation.
A new approach is required to design and assess alternate production systems such that safety, performance and economics are integral part of overall system development. Such an approach would provide a more complete appreciation of the "risks" involved and will also permit design optimisation to be conducted. This should embrace all practical engineering aspects pertaining to technical categories of field development and, to be effective, must be formalised and "computerised". The work programme is designed to provide the facility to meet this need. The essential components of this facility are :
* A computerised database which contains basic data on reliability, repair, maintenance, operating procedures, weather, repair vessels and costs.
* A method of generating a computerised representation of the various subsystems.
* A means of generating an analysis model based upon subsystem representation and the database.
* Rapid analysis of the subsystem performance over field life taking into account failure, repair and maintenance of all operating modes which effect production and safety.
* "Designer Friendly" interface for data input, program control and information output.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
