DEVELOPMENT PROJECT CONCERNING EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION OF MARGINAL HYDROCARBON DEPOSITS

Objective

To encourage exploration and commercial production at marginal hydrocarbon deposits associated with gases of low calorific value containing impurities at marcaptans and hydrogensulphide.
By development of a mobile well test/production unit with a new low cost gas disposal/utilization process.
A new process which combines catalytical and thermal incineration seems to be technical and economical feasible for disposal of low grade associated gases, which cannot be burned in a normal flame
.
The study concluded that gases with high inert content and imprities of sulphus compounds associated with production of oil and gas condensate can be disposed safety. The technically feasible process is to be made rather flexible towards change in gas composition and flow rates, by introducing interchangeable buruer nozzles. It is a simple and reliable process unit, having few moving parts, a low weight and small dimension. The unit will make it economicaly attractive to produce oil reservoirs which contain associated gases of high inert content.
PHASE I, FEASIBILITY STUDY
Comparison of possible processes for disposal of low grade sulphur contamined gases. Selection of the most economical and technical feasible process. Basic design. Economical evaluation of commercial feasibility.
PHASE II, DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A MOBILE DEMONSTRATION UNIT Design and construction of a mobile demonstration unit, transportation to site, and site construction/installation.
PHASE III, TESTING AND DEMONSTRATION
MAIN ACIVITIES
III. a Well opening, preparation and tie-in unit
III. b Testing of unit
III. c Preparation of final report.
Reopening of an excisting exploration well at a marginal low grade gas deposit. 1 years test of technical feasibility.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
