INFLATABLE BUOYANCY BAGS

Objective

- To develop a pressurised reinforced rubber buoyancy bag to replace steel buoyancy tanks/vessels used in the process of steel structure, installation and removal.
- To fabricate and test model scale unit.
- To fabricate test and prove a full scale unit.
- To produce adequate background technology to establish the economics of the concept.

The project will be carried out as a staged development as outlined below. The development of the rubber buoyancy bags will, after an "Initial Concept Development" phase, be designed and tested in four subsequent phases over a total period of 21 months. Details of the activities in each phase and the responsibility for their execution are outlined on the following pages :
Initial Concept Development
PHASE 1 - Detail Design
PHASE 2 - Fabrication and Model Tests
PHASE 3 - Full Scale Fabrication and Test
PHASE 4 - Design Modifications and Close Out Report
