Objective
Try to improve drainage and oil recovery of Rospo Mare field by horizontal well technique because this heavy and viscous oil field presents some risks of early breakthrough with fast water invasion of production wells.
- The horizontal well could be pumped at a high rate.
- Breakthrough occurred after a cumulative production of 70,000 m3.
- Hydrated production was not possible because of lack of platform facilities.
- An initial critical rate of 480 m3/d with reversibility of the water coning was evidenced: this critical rate then declines as water contact goes up in the drainage area of the well.
- Result interpretation has consisted in history matching using a simple mathematic formula in order to foresee total oil which can be produced by a horizontal well like Rospo 6.
The horizontal well technique looks promising or an eventual development of this oil field, but it is necessary to realise a production module composed of "n" horizontal wells and to prove its economy.
1st stage: including a horizontal well, Rospo 6, to the long time production test planned in project no 05.24/81 with 2 wells: Rospo 4 (vertical) and Rospo 5 (directional) both with partial penetration in the reservoir.
2nd stage: interpretation of results obtained on Rospo 6.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
