IN SITU COMBUSTION PROCESSES FOR ENHANCED OIL RECOVERY

Objectif

To develop an accurate simulation model of the in-situ combustion process as applied to heavy oil recovery.

The development of an advanced, fully automated, high pressure, oxygen-assisted combustion tube facility represents the major part of the overall programme. Carefully designed experiments will ensure that the data obtained has the desired precision and selectivity so that simulation accuracy can be critically assessed.
The following stages of the work have been completed:
1 Design, fabrication and installation of equipment.
2 Commissioning of computer controlled combustion tube facility.
3 Preliminary experiments at 10 bar and 70 bar pressure, and supporting
numerical simulation.
4. detailed numerical simulation studies of combustion tube experiments using the STARS reservoir simulator.
