MOORING SYSTEM FOR FLOATING PRODUCTION PLATFORM

Objective

The project was related to the development of an articulated system for the mooring on the sea bed of a positive oscillating tower. The objective was to develop a system using rubber-metal laminated bearings. This system avoids wear and maintenance problems which are usualy met with the metal friction solutions.
A scale 1, 60 degrees sector has been successfully manufactured, proving the system.
On the tests carried out on a scale 1/5 model, conditions equivalent to the specifications have been achieved. No failure or damage has been observed during the test of this model.
The developed system comprises a spherical main bearing consisting of six 60 sectors and an axisymmetrical secondary bearing capable of taking up incidental downward load and enabling preloading of the system. The maximum loading conditions specified were: upward load:2,200 tonnes; horizontal load: 750 tonnes; swivel angle: 14 degrees.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
