NEW TECHNOLOGY FOR PIPELAYING AT SEA

Objective

To define and analyse all the components of a new technology for pipelaying in great water depth. This technology uses a flexible laying unit with the capability of a very long and flexible stinger.
The general feasibility of this new technology of laying pipes in great water was proved. Laying tests would be necessary to complete the study.
Design and calculation of the flexible laying unit:
- static bi- and dimensional computer programs for the s curve calculation
- dynamic S curve computer program. Engineering and tests of ballasting system
- design of flexible laying unit including the pipelaying support device
- design of the S curve control system:
. study of pipelaying configurations in great water depths (1,000 - 2,000 m)
. model tests: dynamic behaviour of the FLU during laying
- behaviour of a laying barge during laying - dynamic positioning of the barge.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
