Objective
To lay a 12" flexible at 550m.
At an earlier stage, we have fabricated a prototype and simulated on land the working conditions of the flexible.
Hydrostatic crushing due to external pressure
Static acial traction
Dynamic movements
A. To determine the resistance to collapse (55 bar) with the outer layer Pierced, the following material was utilised.
Compression chamber
Pressure delivery system
Reduction in volume measuring system
Measuring thermometre
Before being put into the chamber the flexible is filled with water and connected to the measuring system. While the pressure in the box is increasing, the flexible decreasing in volume expels some of the water which it contains. This water collected in a graduated cylinder gives the amount of volume decrease.
B. To verify the tensile strength (160 t), the force corresponding to a flexible
Submerged at 550 m, the following material was utilised:
A tensile machine
Measuring apparatus
The sample was held at one on a fixed point of the bank bya ferrule, the other extremity was attached to the jack of the traction block.
C. A study of the behaviour of a flexible laid on the bottom but not touching The soil and therefore exposed to cyclical forces by the currents was examined With the aid of a fatigue machine.
The bending is given by the inclination of the jaws which hold the extremities Of the flexible, rotation is implicit in this arrangement.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
