Objective
To develop an expert interactive CAE system for use in the analysis and design of any kind of pipe network required for hydrocarbons transmission and distribution Covering any possible offshore, onshore industrial applications, this CAE system is characterized by its expert ability incorporating linear and non-linear analysis for possible loading cases along whith the use of knowledge accumulated in various industrial data banks.
The final product of the project will be a user friendly CAE system which will be a significant tool in the design of complex pibing systems used for transporting and distributing of hydrocarbons.
The system will guide the designer during the solution of complex problems as well as to cover such pipe network analysis computational needs of a designing team, as Fluid-Thermo analysis, Stress analysis, Design critera, Operational analysis, etc.
Fluid-Thermo and Stress analysis processors compose the core of the system cooperating with l/O processors and Data bases. Modern mathematical tools such as Finite Elements, Finite Differences, fast iteractive methods, mesh generators, etc. are used to make algorithms and system modules accurate and valid through special tests which are made for the system results precision and worthiness.
At last, as a large scale software package, the system resulting includes : automatic network topological description, free format input, solution procedures controlled by the user or working automatically for standard cases, start-stop and restart capabilities, extensive error diagnostics, installation in the most wellknown computer sustems, central data management and overall modularity, multi-type output capabilities and adaptation capabilities for different output periipherals.
The system will be backed by the technical and operational manuals which consist of an inseparable part of the whole project and it will also be intended for this interactive system to demonstrate the application of specific knowledge against problem complexity.
Following the consideration of the present state of the art of such CAE systems the project was divided into the following main stages :
I. Interactive User Monitoring System
II. Sea Loading Processor
III. Pipe Laying Processor
IV. Data Bank's and Processing
V. Input/Output Processors
VI. Stress Analysis Processors
VII. Fluid-Thermo Analysis Processors
VIII. System Testing, Interpretation and the necessary documentation.
