OPTIMIZ OF THE CONSTRUCT AND INSPECT PROCEDURES OF CONTAINERS FOR STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION OF HYDROCARBONS

Objective

Verify the new welding technologies with submerged arc welding applied on 9% nickel steel, employed for the containers of storage, transportation and processing of hydrocarbons, in the thickness range 18-48mm.
On the basis of the various tests performed, our evaluation of the results obtained is the following:
- to weld steel plates type 9% nickel with submerged arc process, the best mechanical characteristics can be obtained using materials belonging to group A (type 60 NI - 20 Cr 9 Mo - 3. 5 Nb). With this type of weld metal we obtain (in 80% of cases) the minimum characteristics required for the base metal
- the best combination, from the point of view of both operational and mechanical characteristics, is the wire-flux combination E9-F2 of group B
- another satisfactory combination is E11-f4 of group C
- considering the economical aspect of this matter, we would like to underline hereunder the price difference in the three types of deposits, namely:
Group A: LIT 40 000/50 000 (for each kg of weld deposit)
Group B: LIT 60 000/80 000 (for each kg of weld deposit)
Group C: LIT 20 000/25 000 (for each kg of weld deposit).
On the basis of chemical and mechanical properties, wires and fluxes have been subdivided into three weld metal groups:
a) for weld metal type 70 NI - 20 CR - 2. 5 Nb
b) for weld metal type 60 NI - 20 CR - 9 Mo - 3. 5 Nb
c) for weld metal "modified stainless steel" type (for instance: 18 Cr - 13 Ni - 7 Mn 3W)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
