Objective
The objectives :
- reduction in the global energy consumption due to the mobility needs, to
achieve through both reducing and rechanneling traffic flows; this will
also mean a reduction in current level of fossil fuel consumption and as a
consequence a lesser dependance on external energy supply;
- improvement of urban environmental quality through decrease in both
atmospheric and acoustic pollution levels;
- more rational organization of urban mobility, resulting in a reduction in
private car usage and an increase of public transport users; the
consequence of this objectives are: decongestion of traffic flows, increase
of public transport average speed;
- decrease in car accidents and overall increase on safety levels for
drivers;
- promotion of users acceptance of public transport through the provision of
more and more timely information to the users based on telematic systems.
This project represents the first phase of a wider program regarding the urban mobility.
