Objective
The purpose of ECHO is to provide an automated, integrated system for the collection, storage, management and distribution to end users of electronic sea charts and updates. The system will include basic geographic data collection and distribution, together with interfaces to non-geographic sub-systems, such as accounting and product management, to make for a seamless, end-to-end user support operation. It will form an architectural basis for a full commercial service involving additional European hydrographic offices and a growing end-user community. Guidelines will be provided for future network users and suppliers.
