TELEMATIC STANDARDS AND COORDINATION OF ATT SYSTEMS IN RELATION TO ELDERLY AND DISABLED TRAVELLERS

Objective

TELSCAN aims to ensure that elderly and disabled travellers are not denied the benefits of advanced transport telematics through being neglected by those who develop the technologies. Its aims include a database of design guidelines relevant to the needs of elderly and disabled people, assistance to urban transport projects with prototype systems for testing by people in the target group, and regular reports on the impact on them of such systems. Transport Telematics projects will benefit from complementary tests to assess the costs and benefits of these telematics applications, and concerns in this area will be widely disseminated in industry and elsewhere via workshops, a newsletter and the Internet.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)
