Objective
TO IMPROVE THE KNITTER'S POSSIBILITIES OF PRECALCULATING THE ULTIMATE DIMENSIONS, WHICH KNITWEAR OF COTTON AND COTTON BLENDS WILL ATTAIN IN USE, AND THUS TO ENABLE THE PRODUCTION OF KNITTED GARMENTS WITH IMPROVED DIMENSIONAL STABILITY.
APPROXIMATELY 25 ARTICLES ARE SELECTED FROM THE RANGE OF COTTON OR COTTON BLEND KNITTED UNDERWEAR, NIGHTGOWNS ETC., T-SHIRTS AND SWEAT-SHIRTS PRODUCED BY DANISH KNITTERS. THE ARTICLES COVER DIFFERENT YARNS AND STRUCTURES, DIFFERENT DYEING AND BLEACHING METHODS AND DIFFERENT FINISHING ROUTINES. FOR EACH ARTICLE, THE CORRESPONDING FABRIC IS FOLLOWED FROM KNITTING THROUGH THE BLEACHING/DYEING AND FINISHING PROCESSES NORMALLY USED FOR THE ARTICLE IN QUESTION, TO CUTTING AND SEWING. KNITTED PARAMETERS ARE CHECKED AT START. DIMENSIONS ARE MEASURED AFTER EACH CONSECUTIVE PRODUCTION STEP, AND SAMPLES ARE TAKEN FOR DETERMINATION OF WASHING SHRINKAGE AND DIMENSIONS OF THE FULLY RELAXED STATE. THE RELATIONS BETWEEN THE DIMENSIONAL CHANGES CAUSED BY THE PROCESSES AND THE WASHING SHRINKAGE, IN RESPECT OF THE FULLY RELAXED STATE ARE CALCULATED, AND POSSIBLE SETTING EFFECTS ON THE DIFFERENT PROCESSES EVALUATED.
