TELEMART is an online business services agency, an e-commerce service on the World Wide Web where clients can locate and contract services supplied by teleworkers and other remotely located professionals. TELEMART consists of a service catalogue, secure transactions and payments, and a workflow system, operated by a network of service operators.
TELEMART provides a secure infrastructure and contracted regulated framework through which, transactions are completed in privacy without danger of fraud. The service is provided by the TELEMART platform, which is currently centrally located but can be replicated World-Wide to provide a transparently distributed service platform. The service is an international network allowing suppliers and customers in different countries to contract, and competing service offers can be quickly compared before purchasing or assembling a more complex request. Buyers can control spending limits and a range of services is presented directly to them, making corporate purchasing better controlled and far more efficient. From the prospective customers' point of view, the main benefits are to have a convenient and efficient way to manage their outsourcing requirements and get the best quotes for the work. Concerning the tele-workers, they now have access to a bigger market place via the TELEMART service operators and service platform.
The current service operates only in Sweden and the UK. It is oriented towards "off-the shelf" services like translation, Web design, transcription and audio typing. Teleworkers in these two countries offer services through individual suppliers, who actually contract with the customer. The main benefits are to the prospective customers, who now have a convenient and efficient way to manage their outsourcing requirements and get the best quotes for the work, and to the teleworkers who now have access to a bigger market place via the TELEMART service operators and service platform.
