25 KW WIND SYSTEM FOR AGRICULTURAL AND DOMESTIC APPLICATIONS

Objective

A 25 KW wind turbine connected in parallel with a 15 KW diesel motor will be installed at Montecapelletto in order to cover the agricultural and domestic needs of a farm. The electricity produced will be used for water pumping, for irrigation, for domestic use etc.
The WT was installed in October 1987 and it had been in operation until September 1988. The energy production during this time interval was 552 kWh.
An Aeritalia AIGE-AIT 03, 25 KW wind turbine has been installed and operates in an integrated wind-diesel system. The diesel is a 15 KW generator. Speed control of the wind turbine is through 25 KW electric resistances, which produces thermical energy. A small generator will be used to start the diesel engine. A group of 10 KW converter and 5 KW inverter from one side charges the 12 batteries (144V, 150AH) and from the other side regulates the quality of the electricity to be used.
The wind turbine has a diameter of 8,6 m and a synchronous 25 KVA generator. The estimated annual yield is 26,9 MWh at the site, where the average wind speed is 5. 5 m/s.
The cost per KWh produced is estimated to 383 LIT while a conventional solution (grid connection) gives 800 LIT/KWh, thus the payback is estimated at 6. 5 years.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
