500 KW STALL REGULATED TURBINE WITH ENHANCED ENERGY CAPTURE

Objetivo

Build and demonstrate a 500 kW Nordtank turbine with a new designed blades for improved energy production and fatigue strengh.

New aerofoil design, aiming at higher energy production without surcharging the blades or the turbine peak power, is matched with optimal structural design for stiffer structures withgreater fatigue strengh. Blade manufacture require special tools for dimensional accuracy that comes along with the total design. The set of blades will then be tested at Taff-Ely.
INNOVATION : new blade design. When successful, this design is a breaktrough towards larger machines in the multi-MW range.
