TWO , NEW 1 MW TURBINES WITH DIFFERENT TURBINE BLADES, PRINCIPLES OF REGULATION AND GENERATION SYSTEM (ONE WT)

Objective

To design, construct and operate two 1 MW wind power installations and to demonstrate new principles, components and production methods, wich would lead to a lower cost per kWh for large machines.
Innovative aspects for the first machine :
- larger rotor, 50 m instead of 40 m
- improved blade profiles and new method of production
- new choices of components in connection with the gear
- new generator system.
Innovative aspects for the second machine :
- stall and pitch regulation
- variable rotational speed with electrical regulation
- new, light wooden blades without a solid steel beam.
Wind turbine A will not be realized due to the fact that its financing has been withdrawn.
Design, construction and operation of two 1MW wind turbines.
The first one is based on the Windane 40, the second on the Nibe B.
Site of installation for the first machine, Masnedo, next to the existing Masnedo wind farm and for the second next to the Avedore Power Plant.
Machine B has the possibility of pitch- and stall- speed regulation in order to :
- minimize strain on the wind turbine and on the grid
- minimize noise emission
- minimize the mechanical strain during wind gusts, and
- optimize energy production.
Detailed measurements will be performed on both wind turbines and especially on machine B.
The estimated annual yield is : 2743 MWh/yr for machine A and
: 2724 MWh/yr for machine B
Machine A will be constructed by DWT and machine B will be constructed on a multi-contractual basis by ELKRAFT. CEC support is attributed only for machine B.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
