300 KW WIND TURBINE FOR POZOCANADA, SPANISH-DANISH COOPERATION

Objective

To install and operate a 300 kW horizontal axis wind turbine constructed partially in Denmark and partially in Spain and investigate the feasibility of a local production in order to minimize the cost of the machine.

A 300 KW Danish Wind Technology wind turbine will be constructed partially in Denmark and partially in Spain by Fabrica de San Carlos in Cadiz and will be installed and connected to the grid of Hidroelectrica Espanola at Pozocanada.
The innovation of the project lies in the adaptation and incorporation of Spanish components into an original Danish design, with the intention of the lowering costs and increasing efficiency, trying to optimize the system to the wind conditions found at the site. The components whose incorporation is to be studied are the tower, the control system, the generator, the electrical system, etc. The wind turbine is the WINDANE 31, 300 KW, horizontal axis, 3 bladed, down-wind, pitch-regulated, with an induction generator. The hub height is 30 m and the nacelle and the rotor are supported by a cylindrical steel tower with relatively small shadow effect on the blades. The rated power is reachedat
13 m/s, the cut-in speed is 5 m/s and the cut-out 25 m/s. At the site the annual mean windspeed, measured at 30 m, is 7 m/s, which yields to an estimated capacity factor of 20%, i. e. 550 MWh per year, with an expected cost of KWh of 13,9 PES.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
