Objective
To test a hybrid wind-photovoltaic electric generator for the electricity needs of a mountain shelter near Bologna (Italy).
The wind turbine is rated at 3,5 KW and the photovoltaic generator at 1.2 KWp. The estimated total annual yield is 1350 KWh.
The 5 KW wind turbine has been installed and is in operation since October 1988.
The photovoltaic generator has been also installed.
Demonstration phase is ongoing.
A small wind turbine of 3.5 KW made by RIVA CALZONI and a photovoltaic generator, of 1.2 KWp will generate electricity for the electricity needs of a shelter, on a mountain near Bologna, in order to cover the demand which derives from lighting, TV, refrigerator, data acquisition and the radio transmission system. A lead acid battery storage of about 18 KWh ensures an energy autonomy of about 5 days.
The M 3.5 KW wind turbine, made by RIVA CALZONI, is a 5 m diameter, downwind wind turbine installed on a 9 m high tower. It has a 16-pole special generator allowing its operation without brakes or gearbox. Its laminated wood blade is made by RIVA CALZONI.
The maximum power demand is about 1 KW and the daily energy consumption is estimated at 3.7 KWh.
The estimated total annual yield is 1350 KWh.
