Objective
The objective of the project is the enhancement and reinforcement of the infrastructure of Local Unions of Municipalities and Communes of Greece (TEDKs) for the evaluation of renewable energy exploitation projects. Thus, the goal of the project was the development of a software tool for the establishment of the prefeasibility study of renewable energy projects. The tool operates on a regional network and addresses to any private investor interested on a renewable energy investment.
The software environment that has been developed provides for a three step evaluation procedure of possible renewable energy investments:
1. From the investors' point of view, by estimating the economic viability indices of the investment (eg. Net Present Value, Payback Period, etc.) thus examining the economic feasibility of the investment
2. From the financing body point of view, by estimating the cash flow of the investment, thus allowing the definition of the financing scheme for the investment
3. From the national economy point of view, by estimating the overall energy and economy impacts at national level, thus allowing a more precise definition of the incentives and grants that should be given to the specific investment. The latter evaluation will provide of course for a feedback to the second step of the evaluation in order to establish the final scheme of investment financing. The software and the network of its users, provides specific means for the promotion of investments on renewable energy sources to interested municipalities, private investors, etc.
