Objectif
The proportion of the Greek geothermal energy potential which is actually exploited still remains remarkably low, in spite of the existing favourable exploitation conditions.
This situation is at least in part attributable to the paucity of information capable of being made available to potential investors on existing exploitation possibilities and techniques, financial aspects and the legal framework governing geothermal energy applications. The objective of the present project is to contribute to the collection, systematic recording and dissemination of all pertinent information and to provide comprehensive support to all those interested in carrying out investments in geothermal energy expoitation and utilisation systems.
The present project consists of a cohesive set of actions which are intended to inform and support prospective geothermal investors. Particularly it aims to the development of new and reinforcement of the existing infrastructure and to the implementation of selective interventions of the attraction of investors and the supply of requested support to them in order to draw up pre-feasibility studies.
The basic actions undertaken in the cource of the project can be summarised as follows:
1. Elaboration and publications of a general guide entitled 'Information Guide on the Geothermal Energy Exploitation Possibilities in Greece'.
2. The elaboration and publication of a guide entitled 'Investment Guide for the Use of Geothermal Energy in Productive Activities in Greece'.
3. The planning and development of a convinient and user-friendly software tool (so called GAIN) for use in the elaboration of pre-feasibility studies and the evaluation of potential investment plans.
4. Planning the foundation and operation of local 'Investor Support Offices'.
5. Organisation of information conferences.
Special emphasis was given to the wider possible dissemination of the project's products and results. Realised dissemination activities included the distribution of the guides, presentations to conferences in Greece and abroad, submission of the conference folder to EC officers and special dissemination activities addressed to Bulgarian and Romanian bodies. Scheduled dissemination activities include the publication of a special booklet addressed to Greek, European and Balkanian bodies, publishing of a relative article and presentations to conferences in the near future.
