Economic pre-feasibility study of wind farms in Catalonia and Morocco

Objective

The objective of this project is to study the different aspects to be considered (measurement programmes, evaluation of potential, location of sites, study of infrastructures and socio-economic factors), in order to analyse the possible sites for the installation of two wind farms in Catalonia with a total of 40 MW of installed power, and of a wind power area with 200 MW of potential in Morocco.
A prime objective of the present project is the development of a working methodology applicable to the study of other zones of future interest.

On the basis of the wind data available, a series of tasks by phases are being carried out:
1) Analysis of the data available and identification of areas of interest for wind-power development
2) Characterisation and location of wind-power patterns
3) Selection of sites and evaluation of wind-power potential
4) Study of infrastructures for the implantation of wind farms
5) Integration of wind farms into the electricity distribution grid
6) Study of economic, social and environmental factors
7) Evaluation of the industrial potential for the execution of installations, operation and maintenance, and technology transfer programmes with Morocco
