Objective
To help attract private fniance into the Welsh energy industry by building on and integrating with other initiatives that include:
* statutory land use planning policy
* resource and stakeholder studies
* ETSU/DTI guides and case studies on financing renewable energy
* regional business support services
* ARIES Wales Network to promote the Welsh renewable energy industry
* routes for collaborative action with other European regions
* stimulating private and public finance providers to collaborate on practical demonstration projects
The project is in the process of:
* identifying and informing potential investors through personal contact and seminar
* encouraging research to support renewable energy opportunities in line with the Wales Regional Technology Plan
* encouraging manufacturing and producer services to diversify into renewable energy using supply-chain support organisations
* seeking proposals and projects for development for investor review using advertisements, personal contact and ARIES Wales Network
* providing SME developers with resource, technical, financial and planning advice towards formulating business plans
* influencing local planning authorities to incorporate renewable energy policies into land use plans
* influencing publicly-funded projects and programmes to incorporate renewable energy technologies
