Optimal utilisation of renewable energy sources in ecological holiday housing in sensitive, touristy areas, municipals of Egvad(DK), Naxos(HE) and Porto Santo(Po)

Objective

The aim of the project is to establish development concepts for the optomal use of renewable energy in ecological holiday housing for sensitive, touristy regions in the European Union.

Concepts will be developed for 3 municipals: Egvad(DK), Naxos(HE) and Porto Santo(PO).

In accomplishing the project priority will be given to elements connected to implementation of renewable energy investments related to ecological tourist development.

Expected results: The results in terms og the 3 local concepts will be generalised into a general framework on a European level concerning the utilisation of renewable energy investments related to ecological tourist development.

The project is based on case studies of the 3 municipals involved in the project. Feasibility studies of renewable energy supply for concrete eco-tourist projects will be carried out on the basis of high penetration of renewable energy, 80 - 100% as the basic model.

The energy supply systems will include energy supply to other ecological elements of the eco-tourist projects, e.g. desalination plants on Naxos and Porto Santo, waste water treatment system, where there is no such system locally etc.

The local feasibility studies will be carried out in cooperation with potential investors in local eco-tourist housing projects.

The project will be accomplished in the following phases:

A. Case studies in the 3 municipals.
The case studies will include the following elements:
- Overall ecological concepts - influencing energy consumption of the eco-housing projects.

- Energy systems - different scenarios with different penetration of renewable energy supply.

- Energy consumption - energy production from renewable energy sources.

- Economy of the energy systems.

B. Proposals for implementing the eco-housing projects.
Proposals for implementing the eco-housing projects carried out in cooperation with the potential investors will be included as a part of the feasibility study, made in cooperation with potential investors. This part will include analyses on the regional level in the county of Ringkøbing, DK.

The experiences of implementation will be generalised as a part of the feasibility study.

C. Utilising the concepts from the case studies in new examples.
In this phase the concepts for energy systems as part of eco-housing systems developed from the case studies will be applied in other potential eco-housing projects - to develop a broader European dimension of the project and to disseminate the results of the feasibility studies.

D. Reporting and dissemination activities.
The results of the project will be presented for the tourist sector of the countries involved in the project and to EU Directorates working with this issue.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
