Creation of an educational structure on the use of daylighting techniques in buildings

Objective

The general aim of the present project is to create educational material on the efficient use of daylight for buildings. All materials should form a complete, flexible and transferable educational structure which should have as target to provide building professionals with the necessary knowledge on the efficient use of daylight in buildings, in order to decrease the energy consumption for lighting purposes and improve visual comfort.

The various phases of the overall methodology are described below:
a) Intedification of the existing gaps regarding education on the field of daylight for buildings. The existing gaps regarding the procedures followed to educate building designers on daylight aspects will be identified. Also, the existing material on the field of daylight will be evaluated and classified in order to be used later in the project.
b) Development of the educational material. The educational material on the optimum integration of daylight in buildings will be developed. The material will be combined in order to create a complete educational package.
c) Testing of the educational package by experts and users. The developed material will be distributed to known experts in the field for evaluation and improvements. The improved version will be presented in a pilot seminar to be orhanised in Athens on the efficient methods to integrate daylight in buildings. The aim of the seminar is to offer the users the possibility to test the produced training material, and inform the concerned scientists and engineers on the availability of the material. Also, to sensibilize the engineers and the building managers on the possible use of daylight as a light source which will reduce the energy consumption of a building. All the received comments and the results of the evaluation will be integrated in the educational package which will take its final format. The final package will be delivered to the Commission.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
