Project on the research and utilisation of biofuels

Objective

1.- To develop a trial program in order to study the behaviour of biofuels, preferably obtained from sunflower oil, as a source of mechanical energy with the purpose of introducing it in the transportation sector.
2.- To determine the feasibility of erect and industrial plant in Aragon for produce biofuels

The experimentation on the behaviour and characterization of sunflower oil methylesters as a feasible type of fuel is carrying out in test bench and in Urban Transportation Company of Zaragoza Inc. The aim of the test bench trials is to characterise the behaviour of the engine with biofuel in a way as thoroughly as possible. The trials have been designed to obtain as much information as possible about the performance qualities of the engine in all the different performing circumstances an engine for land transportation can be subjected. Such performance qualities are specified by means of the characteristic curves and the contaminating emissions in the exhaust gases, using different diesel-biofuel mixtures.
The aim of the tests with urban buses is to find out the viewpoint of a public utility company about use of biofuel: drivers, maintenance staff and daily user of the buses. Then we are to running several buses fed by different biofuel-diesel mixtures, and we are checking the engines, oil, etc.
One the most important project's aim is to analyse the feasibility of installing a biofuel production plant in Aragón. In this way, we are studing whether there exists agricultural potential in Aragón to supply raw material a biofuel industrial production plant, the suitable size of the plant, etc.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
