Objective
Asses the potential for electricity savings in the residential sector through a monitoring campaign by End-Use;
- A complete record of electricity consumption for 120 households in Saône et Loire over 1 year ;
- Ten electrical end-use will be monitored : Refigerator, Clothes Washer, Lighting, Television set, Space heating and venting, Dishwasher, Water heater, Freezer, Electric cooking appliance, Miscellaneous ;
- Estimationof electricity savings in Watts (demandsavings), kilowatt-hours and francs;
- Identification of the best end-uses to target future DSM efforts;
- Feed-back of electricity consumption information to monitored
households and advice to improve home electricity management.
The project's objective is to monitor the electrical load and total eneergy consumption for several end-uses (refrigerator, freeze, lighting, clothes washers, television set, cooking) in the residential sector, as a part of Demand Side Management (DSM) program in the French region of Bourgogne.
The Monitoring effort will help to assess the potential for electricity savings in order to define the most promising DSM programs. The project partners , the Urban Community of creusot Monceau les Mines, the general council of Saône et Loire, Electricité de France, and ademe signed in february 1993 an agreement to carry out a DSM program in territory of Saône et Loire.
To our knowledge no monitoring campaign of electricity consumption by end-use as detailled as the one envisaged in this project has ever been performed . the proposed monitoring campaign has become possible because of an innovative monitoring tool called DIACE ( for "Diagnostique Individuel et Automatique de Consommation Electrique". That could be translated in english by Automatic and Individual Diagnostic of Electricity Consumption ).
