The Training of Road Haulage Personnel in the reduction of energy consumption

Objective

To develop a training programme for drivers, operational staff and managers of small and medium sized road haulage businesses and the design of three specific courses, aimed at contributing to energy saving.
* To prepare a good vehicle driver training scheme covering detailed ascpects of all their activities. Energy savings will be quantified in terms of driving techniques.
* To prepare a training scheme for road haulage business managers, including techniques of fleet management and logistics. Measures applicable to energy saving will be quantified in terms of the techniques employed.
* To carry out three pilot courses for drivers and managers respectively.
The project will consist of the following phases :
1. The design of a General Training Plan for road haulage industry personnel.
2. The design of specific training programmes for drivers, operational staff and business managers.
3. The implementation of three pilot courses.
