The service broker concept as an impulse for energy efficient lifestyles

Objective

A entrepreneur operating locally between local demand and regional supply - the service broker - is expected to give a strong impulse to the promotion of more energy effecient lifestyles. The aim of the project is to show the energy saving effect and economic feasibility of the service broker concept, in general, but in particular to policy makers and to potential investors.

The services offered by the service broker will encourage people to spend their money on services (comfort) rather than energy intensive trips and materials. Furthermore the work can be organised in a more (energy) efficient way than at the individual level. The effect and feasibility of the concept will be shown on the basis of experiments at local level in three European countries, with different backgrounds (Spain, Southern Germany, The Netherlands). These different backgrounds offer optimal circumstances to recognise general success and failure factors for the concept.
