Seminar in Brussels on legislative measures for regular inspection of residential boilers

Objective

The one-day seminar has following objectives:
- to situate the main problems and possible benefits of an efficient application of periodic inspection of boilers on the basis of a recent SAVE project (DGXVII/4.1031/S/94-25)
- to exchange experiences between the 3 Belgian regions through presentation of their own approach of periodic inspection by representatives of the government
- to present possibilities for an efficient approach by representatives of 2 neighbour coutnries (Luxembourg and Germany offer good comparison possibilities)
- to present the point of view and experiences of other important actors in Belgium: installers, boiler manufacturers, consumers, oil and gas industry.
- to discuss the priority actions that should lead to an improved efficiency.

Target public

The main target public consists of the involved parties:
- governmental institutions (energy/environment) responsible for boiler maintenance
- national and regional organisations of heating installers
- national organisations of chimney sweeps
- national organisations of boiler and burner manufacturers
- oil, gas, coal sector representatives
- research institutes with specific research on boiler inspection
- national organisation of consumers
- representatives of Germany and Luxembourg.
Since the workshop aims at an active participation of the participants, only a limited number (about 70) of experts can be invited. Also some major European organisations can be invited: GCI (Genie Climatique Internationale), CEB (Comité Européen des Fabricants de Brûleurs).
