Objective
In a concerted effort of consultants, manufacturers and scientists new characterizing values for sun shading devices (SSD) will be discussed and defined. A variety of sun shading devices of different producers will be measured and compared using a calorimetric measuring equipment.
Consequences of considering the complex behavior on room climate and daylighting will be examined, of special interest is the effect on the energy consumption of the building (heating, climate, artificial light, etc.).
New simple and practically oriented methods and design tools are developed to enable designers to plan with these values.
The major aim of this project is to transport the state of art from the scientific level to a practically oriented application level. Moreover we will try to integrate this methods of all consultants, which work on the design of a building, to reach the global optimum in energy consumption.
Our work results in:
- overview and problems of common used planning procedures for sun shading devices (SSD)
- new method for defining, measuring and planning the behavior of SSD for the practicianers
- proposals for the supplementation and improvement of existing standards
- planning handbook
