Perceptually-Driven Optimizations of Graphics Content for Novel Displays

Project description

Taking a closer look at display technology

Displays are a crucial interface between a user and the digital world, and they surround us. The EU-funded PERDY project aims to create display technology that better matches human visual perception. It will combine hardware, computation and visual perception, to bring the way our eyes actually see the world to high-quality display devices. PERDY will conduct experiments to determine perceptual limits across a wide field of view. It will involve all visual cues and establish optimal trade-offs between different quality aspects. Specifically, the project will contribute to the display-specific perceptual optimisations of graphics content to match the requirements of human perception. It will also provide insights into new hardware developments. The findings will lead not only to the improvement of existing applications but also to the creation of new ones.
