Towards the leading constant in Stacky Manin’s conjecture

Project description

Examples of Stacky Manin’s conjecture help define its leading constant

Constants are critical to many physical and mathematical equations. Intriguingly, certain important constants like pi emerge in seemingly unrelated contexts, such as in problems involving the counting of integers without common prime factors. Such phenomena suggest the presence of a profound underlying structure yet to be uncovered. With the support of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions programme, the Stacky Manin project will attempt to define the value of the leading constant in the so-called Stacky Manin’s conjecture, a groundbreaking extension to stacks of the famous Manin conjecture. To address this, the project will identify a class of stacks for which Stacky Manin’s conjecture seems to be approachable and analyse the constant obtained, comparing it with verified examples of Stacky Manin’s conjecture.

Objective

Abstract: Manins conjecture is a famous conjecture in arithmetic geometry, predicting asymptotically the number of rational points of bounded height on Fano varieties. In a breaking recent advance, the researcher and Yasuda have [Darda-Yasuda]extended it to stacks, which explains Malles conjecture on the number of Galois extensions with fixed Galois group of bounded discriminant. The leading constant in the asymptotic formula, however, remains unknown. A reason for this is that we still have very little verified examples of Stacky Manins conjecture. In this proposal, we identify a class of stacks for which the conjecture seems to be approachable, namely, the class of smooth complete intersections in weighted projective stacks which enjoys rich geometric properties. We then plan to analyze the obtained constant, compare it with existing examples, to guess the shape in the general case.
