Membrane dehumidification for energy saving and comfort efficient air handling systems in fixed and mobile applications (DRYCOMFORT)

Objective

Traditionally dehumification is obtained by cooling systems requiring high power to codense vapour. Objective of this project is the development of innovative systems to allow air humidity control with low energy cost by using contactors based on membranes impermeable to liquid water, but highly permeable to water vapour. Humidity control is performed by using liquid desiccants solutions.

Applications:
1) civil buildings: in humid regions, dessicants dehumidification could reduce total residential electricity demand by as much as 25%;
2) automotive: in automobiles such savings can be 3% of fuel consumption with contribution to global environmental impact deriving from reduction of CO2 emission and of CFCs freons fluids;
3) controlled atmosphere-food storage: relative humidity method can prevent fungal infestation and reduce loss of water from product and quality deterioration.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
