Project description
Personal Health Systems for Monitoring and Point-of-Care diagnostics
The PHS2020 project goal is to produce a RTD roadmap on ICT supported Personal Health Systems identifying emerging technologies and potential applications, taking into account users demands, business aspects, ethical and legal considerations. The Personal Health Systems (PHS) roadmap project aims at identifying and characterizing the key research challenges to be addressed during FP7 and beyond in order to deliver the promises of PHS integrated by an action oriented implementation plan describing the timing and instruments to be deployed to support the most important future research themes. It aims to serve as an instrument supporting Portfolio Management and Planning of EC financing of RandD in the field of ICT supported Personal Health Systems, as well as for EU Member States. In doing so it applies an holistic and policy oriented roadmapping methodology that differ from traditional product and industry technology roadmapping as it will take an integrated approach looking at both new and emerging technologies and at broader issues of fundamental scientific research and of socio-economic, socio-cultural, political, institutional and regulatory challenges. The vision is to contribute to the development of a common European PHS vision and the strengthening of coherent community of practitioners and stakeholders, capable of leveraging the potential of the European diversity and innovativeness of healthcare systems. PHS2020 will develop alternative future scenarios of PHS and a detailed research roadmap for the transformation process. The roadmap will define measures to take in research, development, demonstration, implementation, dissemination, promotion, assessment, and standardization.
