Objective
The overall objective of Pro4Plast is to enable the European plastic injection moulding and tooling SME to produce complex, highly functional parts from special polymers at low costs with short time-to-market, to sustain the European SME competitive against challenges from low cost countries out of Europe. This can only be achieved by a new technology driven product development process avoiding today's standard approach of trial and error. Therefore, 9 IAGs initiated this project with 28 members from West-, South- and CE-EU. 1.750 of the IAG-members are tooling/injection moulding SME, which represents ~ 40.000 EU-SME facing the same threats. Dissemination and exploitation will reach min. 40% of these SME.
The obstacles in the product development process and the involved complexity require a holistic approach to leapfrog the competitiveness of EU-SME, main project aims to achieve this are: - Easy to handle SIMULATION SOFTWARE for complex parts for SME - PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT GUIDING SYSTEM - for complex parts - MATERIALS - accurate material data for special polymers for simulation - TRAINING, DISSEMINATION and EXPLOITATION A top-class RTD team from leading scientific institutes of the EU will safeguard the achievement of its ambitious targets. The package of the expected results will strengthen the SME-competitiveness sustainable.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
