The European Commission, DG XII, has published, in six volumes, extended summaries of marine research projects, funded within several past and ongoing EU research programmes in recent years. The projects, many of which were presented at the recent MAST conference in Lisbon, Portugal, from 23 to 27 May 1998, cover a wide range of marine research fields. The books give detailed presentations of the results of completed projects, and information on ongoing projects. The six volumes cover the following: - Volume I: Marine systems research covering extreme marine environments and regional seas research; - Volume II: Strategic marine research covering coastal and shelf seas, coastal engineering and natural defences; - Volume III: Generic technologies; - Volume IV: Advanced systems; - Volume V: Fisheries and aquaculture (AIR: 1990-1994); - Volume VI: Fisheries and aquaculture (FAIR: 1994-1998).
