CORDIS has started developing information services to provide details of research and innovation activities specific to each Member State. The new services build on the success of the CORDIS Council Presidency RTD Information Services. The Member State Services will provide a permanent source of information on country-specific activities in the context of EU research and innovation, rather than running for just six months as the Presidency services have done. The first Member State Service to be launched is that for the United Kingdom, following on from the recent Presidency Service, with further launches due in the next few months. The UK Service will provide details of UK research and innovation policies, and on the UK's involvement in EU research. In particular, it will provide information on the Fifth RTD Framework Programme and the opportunities available within it. One section will focus on research and development activities in the UK, with contacts and links for those interested to follow up. The participation of UK companies and organisations in EU research activities will also be a key feature of the Service, making use of the CORDIS databases to show what programmes and fields UK researchers are involved in. Regularly updated showcases will highlight specific projects where UK researchers have achieved successful results in EU-funded projects.
